Lakeland This Week / LakelandTODAY.ca:
MULTIMEDIA JOURNALIST

Description
Lakeland This Week/LakelandToday.ca has an opportunity for a journalist on our regional news team in northeastern Alberta. The successful candidate will contribute local news content to our print publication and news website.

Local journalism is our focus and applicants should possess an interest in learning about the people that live here and reporting stories that matter to this area’s residents. A keen news sense combined with a willingness to tackle a broad spectrum of stories for this general assignment role is necessary.

This opportunity is well-suited to someone who has some inkling of life outside of a major urban centre. This is rural Alberta - no big cities here - so if you are not someone who can easily adapt to a change in lifestyle, this is not the role for you. The successful candidate will be expected to relocate to the region and work out of either our St. Paul or Bonnyville offices.

Bring an enthusiasm for your craft, a desire to share the life and times of our communities, a strong work ethic and we will welcome you to our team. You will be expected to produce 8 to 10 news stories per week.

Whether you are a new journalist just beginning your career, or a seasoned vet with many more stories yet to share, we are looking for someone who is self-motivated, who cares about local journalism, knows it matters and understands deadlines exist for a reason.

Situated in Alberta’s Lakeland region, Lakeland This Week/LakelandToday.ca is owned by Great West Media. We offer a competitive salary based on experience and a comprehensive benefit package.

• Journalism diploma or degree / post-secondary equivalencies in English/Communications among others will be considered.
