The Airdrie City View and its sister paper The Rocky View Weekly have placed well at the Alberta Weekly Newspaper Associations’ (AWNA) 2025 Better Newspaper Competition General Excellence Awards in the 10,000 and over circulation category.
The General Excellence Awards recognize the achievements of the newspaper as a whole as opposed to the work of any individual reporter or staff member.
The Airdrie City View placed third for Best Front Page while The Rocky View Weekly placed second in both the categories for Best Editorial Page and Best Overall newspaper– a mark of prestige which puts them among the best weeklies in the province.
Cameron Christianson, publisher of both the City View and The Weekly, said the awards reflect the integrity and dedication of everybody involved in producing these two great newspapers each week.
“I am proud to celebrate with all my staff that sets the standard for greatness with our publications,” said Christianson. “These awards reflect what I have known for years that our pursuit of excellence makes a lasting impact every day.”
These new honours go alongside the individual Awards of Excellence won by reporter Ryan Uytdewilligen in the Best News Story category and Editor Tim Kalinowski in the Best Feature Story categories as adjudicated by the AWNA in May.
