In today’s Innisfail Province you won’t find world news and works of fiction alongside district news like you would have in this newspaper 100 years ago. With few other forms of media, the people of the Innisfail area relied on the Innisfail Province in the very early 1900s to keep them connected to the rest of the province and the world. Media proliferation in the 21st century means world news and works of fiction can be found in abundance with the flick of a switch or the swipe of a finger.
What can’t be found in abundance though, unless you look in the Innisfail Province, is hyper local news about the people and events going on right here in our backyard.
It’s all we do.
The Innisfail Province is distributed to residences and businesses within the towns of Innisfail and Penhold, the communities of Spruce View and Markerville and the surrounding rural areas in Red Deer County.
Residents from these areas use Innisfail, located about 20 minutes south of Red Deer on Highway 2, as a service hub, as well as for recreation activities. The town functions as a node of commercial and industrial activity serving the Central Alberta region and larger markets through its direct access to the Highway 2 corridor. It has a strong industrial base with large manufacturing companies that not only provide products and services throughout North America but also offer locals a source of employment.
Nowhere else will you find such comprehensive coverage of the local economy and the effects it has on various aspects of life in our communities, as in the Innisfail Province on a weekly basis. We profile the movers and shakers of our communities as well as the behind-the-scenes people who make our communities tick. In no other newspaper will you find such comprehensive coverage of Innisfail’s and Penhold’s minor sports, school activities or municipal council decisions and debates, than in the Innisfail Province on a weekly basis. Our trained staff of journalists get to the bottom of the story and present it to our readers in an unbiased, comprehensive manner. And much like the first editions of the Innisfail Province printed in 1906, our newspaper also showcases advertisements targeted to our readers. Targeted is what we offer and targeted is why we are read. Our other media platforms offer similar targeted content, whether through Twitter, Facebook or our website.
Whether it’s breaking news or catching up on events, readers don’t have to wait for the weekly newspaper to get briefed on the goings-on in their community. Our social media followers are increasingly turning to us for updates.
